PRUVolunteers restore homes and hope in Thailand
The historic town of Sukhothai, Thailand, faces flooding every year due to heavy rains. In October this year, severe flooding has affected over 3,000 families in 70 villages. Prudence Foundation, in collaboration with the Foundation of Older Person’s Development (FOPDEV) and Prudential Thailand, donated USD 60,000 for relief effort, as well as organised the PRUVolunteers Programme to rebuild some of the houses for the vulnerable families.
Between November 2-8, 2024, 80 dedicated colleagues from across Prudential in Asia, Africa and the United Kingdom participated in the PRUVolunteers programme. The volunteers were warmly invited by the local community in Yang Sai subdistrict, working tirelessly to construct four new homes and repair eight essential sanitation facilities. This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to building community resilience and supporting vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly, who are often disproportionately affected by such natural disasters and climate change.
